Little Sisters of The Poor
Nothing means more to us than continuing the spirit and work of Jeanne Jugan in the world today – welcoming the needy elderly into our homes, forming one family with them, enabling them to enjoy life and caring for them with love and respect until the moment God calls them home!
The care of the dying has always been the summit of our apostolate and it is an ever more powerful witness of the culture of life. By the look in his eyes or by the silence of his whole being, the elderly person who is near death asks us this question: “Does my life still have any value? Is it worth living?” To each person we respond with a resounding yes!
Fast facts about the Little Sisters of the Poor today: • currently 2,700 Little Sisters;
• over 13,000 elderly residents currently served;
• 202 homes;
• 32 countries; countries the Little Sisters call home.
• 31 homes in North America and 8 in Oceania.
• Our most recent foundations: Bolinao, Philippines (2007); Tacna, Peru (2006); Manila, Philippines (2004); Jabalpur, India (2004); Cartago, Colombia (2003); and Kwanju, South Korea (2000).
• Our homes are open to needy seniors 60 years and older.
• We welcome the elderly regardless of race, religion or national origin.
• As Little Sisters we profess vows of chastity, poverty, obedience – and a special 4th vow of hospitality.
• By this vow we dedicate our whole lives to the service of the needy elderly.
• We are grateful for the support of over 2,000 lay members of the Association Jeanne Jugan around the world.
• Just as Jeanne Jugan did, we rely on God’s Providence – manifested through the generosity of good people in the community – for the survival of our mission.

BARK-Bandit's Adoption and Rescue of K-9's
BARK’s mission is to rescue orphaned or abandoned pets and other adoptable dogs from animal shelters in the Richmond area, provide spay/neuter and vaccinations, then find loving, forever homes for them. In 2008, BARK placed 664 dogs in forever homes. In February of 2007, BARK founded The HOPE Fund. Little Hope was a 6-month old puppy who had been abused by a man for her entire life. Even after all the little dog had been through, she still licked any human hand that offered her love and kindness. Unfortunately, the abuse that she suffered prior to coming to BARK was too much for her and she passed away quietly and peacefully while under veterinary care.
We all loved HOPE and honor her courage and memory through The HOPE Fund. BARK has hope for all the dogs in the world. Not only does BARK rescue dogs in danger of being euthanized, we also use donations to help dogs like little Hope. Many, many dogs recover fully from truly horrible beginnings and go on to find loving homes and live long, wonderful lives. Please consider making a donation to help a dog start a new life. Donations to The HOPE Fund will be used to help dogs with specific & extensive needs.

Save The Children
Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. It is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance, comprising 27 national Save the Children organizations working in more than 100 countries to ensure the well-being of children.
To learn more about this charity, visit thier website at: www.savethechildren.org
With your support, Save the Children can provide a wide range of programs: training new mothers with prenatal care, supplying life-saving immunizations for young children, building schools, improving literacy and nutrition for children living in rural poverty in the U.S., and so much more. Global Hunger Save the Children distributes basic staples during times of crisis when food is in short supply.
The Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that over 840 million people - about one sixth of the population of the world’s developing nations - are malnourished. Over 200 million of them are children. The unavailability of food in the region where people live, and people’s lack of access to food in sufficient quantities and quality to meet basic daily needs is often compounded by health and sanitation problems resulting in malnutrition. For urban dwellers, the problem is a basic one of>poverty. For children of rural subsistence farming families, the problem is often an inability to produce and store enough food, combined in both cases with poor access to health services and/or poor health practices.
Malnutrition, and in extreme cases, stunting, is evidence of the permanent physical harm done to children and their future potential to live healthy and productive lives. Poor climatic conditions and inadequate agricultural inputs and practices; economic stresses; lack of opportunity; inadequate health care; poor sanitary conditions and practices; lack of education; displacement; and civil unrest; are among the many specific causes of food and livelihood insecurity for children and their families.
